There are some benefits to doing a re-roof verse a new roof install. First, it is a more cost-effective method. Also, the existing decking under your current shingles would remain in place, so that also would not have to be replaced like it possibly could be during a new roof replacement. This again would save you supplies and labor cost. There are also other items that would be saved by a re-roof.

There are some things you need to consider prior to getting a re-roof on your residential home. Many neighborhoods in the Denton, TX area are under the control of an HOA. New roof materials will be ordered and will typically arrive in your driveway the day before or the morning of your new roof installation. Some of the materials might be shingles (of some kind), felt, staples or nails, some type of valley layer, pipe boots, attic vents, flashing, and ridge cap.
Depending on how severe the hail storm was, you might need a complete re-decking of your home. We have seen hail so large and strong that it went straight through the shingles, through the felt, and through the decking of a roof.
